All political parties have now conducted their primary elections, and we have all witnessed the good, the bad, and the ugly aspects of the process. However, that is a discussion for another day.
My concern at this moment is to appeal to the NDC leadership and members to open their arms and warmly welcome those from other political parties who genuinely wish to join us in the collective effort to rescue and rebuild our nation in 2027.
It is unfortunate that some individuals who ought to be supporting Mr. Peter Obi are instead working against him. More concerning is the fact that some people from our neighboring geopolitical zones, who identify as Igbos, have chosen to contest against him under different political platforms.
May I use this medium to remind our people of the wise saying: “Onye ajuru adighi aju onwe ya” — meaning that no one willingly accepts rejection or exclusion from existence.
This is a crucial moment for unity. If we fail to come together and secure political power now, we may have to wait another twelve years before such an opportunity presents itself again. By then, many unpleasant and avoidable developments may have occurred.
Therefore, let us set aside our differences, embrace one another, and use what we have today to achieve the political future we desire. Unity, inclusiveness, and strategic cooperation remain our strongest tools in the journey toward a better nation.
Together, we can make 2027 a turning point for our country
