IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO COME TOGETHER

The events that led to the victory of the APC over the then-ruling PDP demonstrated an important political lesson: unity among opposition parties can achieve what individual efforts cannot. By forming a coalition, the opposition was able to present a common front, which contributed significantly to its electoral success.

Today, if the opposition truly desires to unseat the present ruling party, it must be willing to put aside pride, personal interests, and political differences. It is time for all opposition parties to come together under a united platform.

Since the NDC has already produced a presidential candidate, other opposition parties can be accommodated by receiving a larger share of senatorial, House of Representatives, and governorship tickets through mutual agreement. Such an arrangement would ensure that every party is fairly represented in the next government and that no party feels excluded.

As long as the opposition remains divided, it will continue to face political intimidation and struggle to compete effectively against the ruling party. A divided opposition is like a house divided against itself—it cannot stand strong or achieve its common objective.

The recent governorship election in Ekiti provides a lesson. If the PDP and SDP had presented a single governorship candidate, their combined votes could have been enough to defeat the APC. Instead, the division of opposition votes worked to the advantage of the ruling party.

Many Nigerians are concerned about the current fragmentation among opposition parties. The people are looking for a credible and united alternative capable of providing effective leadership.

Time is running out. If a broad coalition is not formed before the end of July 2027, the opposition may once again miss a valuable opportunity. However, it is still not too late. By embracing dialogue, compromise, and unity, the opposition can build a stronger force capable of offering Nigerians a genuine choice.

The time to come together is now.
