A Call to South East Leaders and a Message Ahead of 2027
May we call the attention of some Governors and lawmakers from the South East to the growing insecurity that is gradually taking over their communities under their watch. Sadly, many homes are no longer safe, yet some of these political leaders are campaigning to continue on a path that many citizens associate with insecurity, hunger, heavy borrowing, and a rising cost of living beyond the reach of ordinary people.
We want to assure those politicians in Abuja that, come 2027, they will have their say, but the masses of the South East will also have their way. The unemployed youths, peasant farmers, petty traders, and Ndigbo in general will exercise their democratic rights and make their voices heard.
“OK” has become a symbol of hope and answered prayers for many communities from North to South and from East to West, especially those who have been displaced from their homes and are living in fear and captivity.
It is unfortunate that some leaders hardly visit their villages from year to year. Beyond political speeches and promises, perhaps it is time to complement our efforts with prayers and fasting, because the situation appears to be deteriorating rather than improving.
The time has come for the younger generation to rise and take an active interest in deciding what the next four years will mean for them economically and otherwise. The future belongs to those who are willing to shape it.
Come 2027, Nigerians will have the opportunity to decide whether to continue policies they believe amount to consuming tomorrow today through excessive borrowing and unsustainable spending. The people have learned bitter lessons and are demanding accountability, good governance, security, and economic prosperity.
Enough is enough. The future of Nigeria must be built on justice, responsibility, and policies that improve the lives of the people
